Currently, the Sister School Project exists as an informal nonprofit, set up by a small community of people, mostly in Charlottesville, VA to help another small community of people in Canton El Zaite, El Salvador. Not incorporating as a large nonprofit allows the Sister School Project to eliminate all overhead costs and also allows the organization to stay close to its roots in personal relationships.

That being said, we also recognize that some donors would like to be able to deduct their donations from their taxes, so we are looking into several options for getting tax deductibility status without losing the communal nature of the organization.

For the scholarship program, checks must be made out to Russell Carlock. For all infrastructure programs, checks can be made out directly to the school. You may designate which project you wish your donation to go to.
